Theremin Cider

by Thomas Anderson

from the album Bolide

   Pour me that theremin cider,

   To go with my Mellotron stew;

   Every kid on the block's got that Switched On Bach,

   But I've got nothing without you.

They're talking Esperanto in the milk bar,

They're banging on the A-R-P;

They kick up their earth shoes and they dance 'til dawn,

But you're a million miles from me.

So send me your smile on a sine-wave,

Call me with an oscillating tone;

Say hi to Wendy, she's not Walter anymore,

I don't care and I don't want to know.

   Just pour me that theremin cider,

   To go with my Mellotron stew;

   Every kid on the block's got that Switched On Bach,

   But I've got nothing without you.

Now some folks they like their musique concrete

And some like their ambient drone;

Well it's a brave new world with people such as you,

Why did you leave me all alone?

Round and around like a tape loop,

When do we ever get through;

My heart sighs like an E-bow cries,

And it only sighs after you.

   So pour me that theremin cider,

   To go with my Mellotron stew;

   Every kid on the block's got that Switched On Bach,

   But I got nothing without you.
