Antihistamines

by Thomas Anderson

from the album The Moon in Transit

Baby you left your mark on me

The scars are long and the scars are deep

Is there a cure for this misery?

I wish it was nothing more than antihistamines

I miss your laugh, I miss your smile

Your bookish ways and your wayward style

Your golden hair blowing in the winter breeze

And all I've got to get me by are antihistamines

Sometimes I cough sometimes I sneeze

Mostly I fall down on my knees

And I pray to God to send you to me please

But all I ever get are antihistamines

The doctor shrugs "I think we're through

I've done all that I can do

I've got no cure in the infirmary

But while you're here you can have some antihistamines"

Chlorpheniramine, Diphenhydramine,

Doxylamine, Phenindamine,

Tripolidine, and Pheniramine,

I can't cure my pain with antihistamines.
