Corporate Ladder

by Thomas Anderson

from the album Beyond That Point

I'm climbin' up the corporate ladder,

I'm climbin' up on the backs of my friends,

I don't stumble and I don't stagger,

And I don't stop 'til I get to the end.

You're gonna go far they all tell me,

You can't keep 'em down on the cubicle farm;

You can't keep 'em down when they crunch the numbers,

Security's breached -- sound the alarm.

Mainframe's crashed and the passwords stolen,

Personal data -- it's a diamond mine;

Stock price tumbles, it's a PR nightmare,

Sign your name on the dotted line.

I'm climbin' up....

Sanctions lifted and the market is flooded,

Currency devalued it's a sign of the times;

A crisis is just opportunity waiting,

Revenue's down and the board resigns.

I'm climbin' up....

A shaggy mountain, he walks like thunder,

The tusks are deadly if you come up wrong;

Lure him to the bog with fire in the tall grass,

Through the smoke watch him lumber along.

Lure him to the bog and the rest is easy,

He sinks in the mud and there's nowhere to go;

Hear the yells and the dogs all barking,

Give the signal and the spears go home.

I'm climbin' up....
