Rock All Night

by Thomas Anderson

from the album My Songs Are the House I Live In

After the prom after the dance,

Lookin' around in a red-eyed glance;

He took little Suzy home in the morning light,

The birds were singing and he felt alright;

He says "Where's the party, where's it all at,

Tell me and I'll be there in two seconds flat."

Well the chaperones left and the band left too,

The limousine drivers and the boys in blue,

They're takin' down the streamers, clearin' out the hall,

Crawling into bed singing After the Ball;

He guns the engine in his old Trans-Am

Crankin' up Deep Purple Made In Japan.

He's gonna rock rock rock all night

He's gonna rock rock rock all night

He's gonna rock rock rock all night

He's gonna rock rock rock all night

He ain't goin' home 'til his hair turns white

He's gonna rock rock rock all night.

Carnation wilted and tuxedo in rags,

Lookin' for action on the Main Street drag;

Checkin' out the girls on their way to work,

They just flip him off and call him a jerk.

The liquor store opens at half-past three,

He's got a ten-dollar bill and a fake ID.

He's gonna rock....

He yells out the window when he sees you in the street,

He tosses a bottle it crashes at your feet,

He's goin' to the drive-in when the sun goes down.

He'll sneak you in the trunk if you're gonna be around;

Sub-woofers pounding feel the sidewalk shake,

Sayin' something 'bout a girl livin' out by the lake.

He's gonna rock....
